Chris Mayo completed his undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Bachelor of Arts at the University of Georgia. He also earned his Master’s of Social Work from the University of Georgia. Chris currently holds licensure in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
After finishing his degree, he began working as a counselor with the Georgia Department of Justice, providing evidence based mental health and substance abuse counseling for detained youth and adults. He also worked as an independent contractor providing psychotherapy and substance abuse treatment in outpatient and residential settings, school systems, and foster homes. He has been providing clinical services to children and adults for over 12 years.
Chris has particular interest in working with individuals dealing with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and other anxiety related impairments. He also works with individuals struggling with addiction, substance abuse and other co-occurring conditions. He uses evidence based treatments in his practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectal Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing for individuals, groups and families.
