I am a clinical psychologist with over thirty years of experience in child, adolescent and adult therapy. I have become increasingly interested in effective ways to help children, teens and adults navigate their emotions and behaviors. Mood disorders, particularly anxiety, OCD and depression, as well as problems with attention and impulsivity are frequent concerns presented by my clients, along with a range of other interpersonal issues. I have also worked extensively with children and families who are experiencing the impact of such issues as divorce, stepfamilies, single parent households and dual career couples.
My practice is currently focused on therapy, utilizing primarily CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) although my previous training in more psychodynamic psychotherapy approaches informs my practice. I am also trained in SPACE treatment, to help parents navigate the anxious emotions of their children. Until 2017, I also conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations, and although I no longer do these types of evaluations, my extensive experience in this area helps to identify how learning and developmental issues may impact on emotional, social and behavioral functioning. An awareness of the demands on most families in these busy times is incorporated into treatment so that goals are realistic and attainable. Collaboration with schools, physicians or other professionals is seen as an important part of treatment.
Although my practice is fee for service and I do not participate with any insurance plans, I can electronically file claims for my clients after payment is made in order to simplify their reimbursement for out of network payments, a feature which has been well received within my practice.
