Heather (Chik) Plinovich, Ph.D. has nearly two decades of clinical and research experience and is a leading provider of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) for adults, adolescents, and children with anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) & spectrum disorders, and other related disorders. She is passionate about incorporating other evidence-based interventions including acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness practice, self-compassion, and assertive communication into her work. Dr. Plinovich is trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-based treatment program for children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, OCD, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and highly dependent adult children (i.e., 'failure to launch'). When she moved to Northwest Indiana in the late 2000s, she realized that many individuals traveled to Chicago or Indianapolis for quality psychological care. When she founded the Anxiety & OCD Behavioral Health Center in 2013, she wanted to offer the same level of cutting-edge treatments to those who don't have easy access to them in the geographic area. She now has a team of like-minded psychologists and mental health counselors who also offer the same quality evidence-based treatments as she does. Dr. Plinovich thoroughly enjoys working with her patients and those who are there to support them (e.g., parents, spouses, teachers, physicians, etc.). Dr. Plinovich brings her expertise in research-based treatments, a healthy dose of humor, sensibility, and passion to her therapy sessions and workplace. In turn, she expects her patients and their families to work hard on implementing treatment strategies towards reclaiming their quality of life.
